Online Video Poker

Video Poker is a virtual card game which is based on standard five card draw poker. This exciting poker game is played as a single player game. You don’t have to try and beat the house or any other opponents. The main aim is to try and achieve the best possible poker hand, so having an good understanding of the different poker wins is essential when playing this game.

In regular poker, a high card is usually the lowest win, but this doesn’t count as a win when playing Video Poker. The lowest win is generally a pair and this pair usually has to be a pair of 10s or better. Other winning hands in video poker include (in ascending order): Three of a kind (for example 4, 4, 4 or J, J, J), a Straight (for example 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 of any suit) or a Flush (must be any five cards of the same suit).

Other wins include a full house (any three of a kind and any pair), Four of a Kind (which can be any four of the same cards, such as 8, 8, 8, 8), a Straight Flush (five cards in consecutive order, must be the same suit) and the top paying hand is the Royal Flush (a run of five cards from 10 through Ace, must be the same suit).

Knowing these wins and the associated odds can help you make more of an informed decision on which cards to hold and which cards to discard. After you have set your stake and paid for a hand, you will be dealt five cards. You can then throw away up to five cards and hope that the ones that you are redealt will be better than the last. If you think that you have a good hand, you can hold certain cards in place and then discard just a couple.

The discarded cards will only be redealt once in an attempt to try and improve your hand. The new cards will either help generate a win or they won’t improve than hand at all. Either way, the game will be over once the cards have been redealt and you will either win or lose. The next hand can start immediately, as soon as you place your next bet.
